Privacy Policy

SBK is committed to providing quality services to you and this policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you in respect of how we manage your Personal Information.

We have adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act). The NPPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your Personal Information.

  1. What is personal information and why do we collect it?

Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies an individual.

  1. What kind of personal information does SBK collect and why do we collect it?

SBK will, from time to time, collect personal information in the course of its business.

When you interact with us, either electronically (including by not limited to via our website, email correspondence, social media or SMS), telephone or other ways as permitted by law, we may collect and hold personal information about you.  

Some examples of the type of personal information that SBK obtains from you and why, is listed below.

When you place an order with SBK, we collect your name, billing address, delivery address, telephone number and email address in order to process your purchase and arrange delivery.  Information may also be collected regarding the items you purchase, the use of a promotional code, and your browsing behaviour on our website.  If you provide an email address yet do not proceed with a purchase, you may be contacted to see if there was a problem that we can rectify. 

If you pay via a credit card, SBK does not store these details. 

If you choose to sign up as a customer with SBK, we will collect your name, delivery address, date of birth, and email address.   This information will be used to contact you with product information or sale promotions.  You can opt out of this at any time.

We may also collect personal information about you from third parties where you have agreed with them that your information may be disclosed, this may be the case when we have a business relationship with another business.

SBK may also collect general site traffic data when you visit our website or social media pages.   This information allows us to maintain and/or improve our website/business.   Cookies and/or other tracking technologies may be used by SBK and/or our third parties. 

SBK will never sell any personal information collected in the course of you doing business with us.

  1. Sensitive information

Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinion about such things as an individual's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal record or health information.

Sensitive information will be used by us only:

  • For the primary purpose for which it was obtained
  • For a secondary purpose that is directly related to the primary purpose
  • With your consent; or where required or authorised by law.

SBK does not typically collect sensitive information.  However, if you disclose sensitive information in the process of interacting with us (for example, you mention a skin condition you have when reviewing a SBK product), you consent to us collecting, using and disclosing that information for the purpose for which you disclosed it and as permitted by the Privacy Act.

  1. Third Parties

Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information by third parties. In such a case we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.

Your Personal Information may be disclosed in a number of circumstances including the following:

  • Third parties where you consent to the use or disclosure; and
  • Where required or authorised by law.

This may includes the following providers: fraud prevention, web hosting, IT systems administrators, fulfillment service, couriers, payment processes, financial institutions, auditors, and professional advisors such as lawyer, auditors, accountants, insurers or other commercial partners.

Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.

When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information.  However, most of the Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.

While we implement safeguards designed to protect your information, no security system is impenetrable and due to the inherent nature of the Internet, we cannot guarantee that data, during transmission through the Internet or while stored on our systems or otherwise in our care, is absolutely safe from intrusion by others, and to the extent permitted by law, exclude all liability (including in negligence) for the consequences of any unauthorised access to your personal information.

Please notify us promptly if you become aware of any breach of security. We will comply with all mandatory notification requirements in respect of security breaches as required by the Privacy Act.

  1. Access to your personal information

You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing.

SBK will not charge any fee for your access request, but may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information.

In order to protect your Personal Information we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.

  1. Maintaining the quality of your personal information

It is an important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date. If you find that the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update our records and ensure we can continue to provide quality services to you.

For your protection we may need to verify your identity before implementing your request. We will comply with your request within a reasonable period after you make your request.

We may decline your request to correct your personal information in certain circumstances in accordance with applicable law. If we do refuse your request, we will provide you with a reason for our decision and, we will include a statement with your personal information about the requested correction.

This Privacy Policy is subject to change over time without prior notice.  We may amend this Privacy Policy by updating it and posting it on our website or within our apps. We recommend that you visit our website regularly to keep up to date with any changes.
